Imran Khan’s Family Warns of Peaceful Protest if Jail Visit Is Blocked Again

Imran Khan’s family has announced a peaceful protest outside Adiala Jail if authorities again prevent them from meeting the former prime minister. PTI lawmakers and supporters are expected to gather, demanding an end to Khan’s weeks-long isolation and the restoration of family visitation rights.

Islamabad — The family of former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan has announced that it will stage a peaceful protest outside Adiala Jail next Tuesday if authorities once again deny his relatives permission to meet him. The warning comes amid growing concern over Khan’s continued isolation, which his family says has stretched for nearly four weeks without relief.

According to officials, a substantial gathering of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers, party office-bearers, activists and supporters is expected to assemble outside the facility should the restrictions remain in place. Their primary demands include an immediate end to Khan’s solitary confinement and the restoration of his family’s visitation rights, particularly for his sisters, including Aleema Khanum, who has publicly criticized the ongoing restrictions.

The situation has amplified tensions between PTI members and the administration of Adiala Jail, where Khan is being held in connection with multiple legal cases. While prison authorities have not issued a formal statement explaining the continued limitations on family visits, officials confirmed that precautionary measures and security protocols remain in place amid heightened political sensitivity.

Khan’s family insists the protest will be entirely peaceful and is meant to assert what they describe as their constitutional right to meet an incarcerated relative. PTI leaders have echoed this stance, warning that prolonged restrictions could trigger broader public unrest at a time when the political climate is already fraught.

As Tuesday approaches, Islamabad’s security agencies are preparing for a potentially large turnout outside the prison gates. The outcome of the scheduled visit request—and the administration’s response—could set the tone for the coming days, shaping both political tensions and public perception of due process in the high-profile detention.
